Stars sign Woywitka for 2 years

July 7th, 2009 by Brad

Tuesday, the Stars signed former St Louis Blues defenseman Jeff Woywitka to a 2 year deal worth only $1.3 million dollars. He’s a big fella, that’s not afraid to mix it up, and adds some needed depth to the Stars blue line. Still, St Louis didn’t want him (they want Zubov, apparently) so where does that leave Stars management? Strapped for cash of course and trying to find a bargain.

The Morning News on Woywitka

Defending Big D on Woywitka

Between Nieuwendyk and Woywitka, it’s going to be a fun season of slowing down on the old keyboard and making sure things come out right.

The Stars now have Trevor Daley, Robidas, Fistric, Grossman, Skrastins, Woywitka, Niskanen, and Jancevski signed for next year. Jancevski’s deal is two-way and it’s presumed he’ll be in Cedar Park next year. They also have Vishnevsky, who played well in a brief stint with the big club last year, but will also play in Cedar Park next year.

Depth? Or a glut? Is a trade coming? The Stars need a backup goaltender in a bad way now that Gustavssons procrastination finally came to an end and he decided that Toronto is the place for him.

Of course, a trade for a d-man who can score points would be a much more welcome proposition for me, personally. That’s very unlikely to happen. The power play will likely continue to struggle because of it.

It’s difficult to grade Nieuwendyk’s off-season thus far, hamstrung as he is by an owner with no money to spend. One can only hope that a capable backup for Turco is signed before too long. This team will likely be looking for improvement from within once again. The good news this year is that there is nowhere to go but up.

One knows that modern life is very expensive, nevertheless people need money for different stuff and not every person gets big sums money. So to get good credit loans and just secured loan will be a right way out.
