Old. Slow. Stupid.

November 20th, 2008 by Brad

Chicago is fun to watch, and boy are they fast. Their speed created nearly every goal for them on Thursday night. I’m quite confident in saying the Stars fastest skater (which by the way, who is that exactly?) couldn’t beat 6 or 7 Hawk forwards. They are great.

They’re also great at using the Stars to screen Marty Turco. 3 of their goals came off of shots that Marty Turco didn’t see until it was too late because the Hawks forced the flat footed Stars into doing their bidding.

The perfect microcosm of the game was when young Versteeg skated right around old slow Zubov and beat Turco in tight. Old versus young.

This is a young mans game, and we are an old man team. Teams that skate like this (The Sharks, the Coyotes, the Blackhawks, half of the Eastern conference…) make up a huge chunk of the schedule, and the Stars don’t have the personnel to match up. Those are points they have no chance at getting.

Not having any playoff games to watch will really help my blood pressure this year. I’m trying to find a positive.
