Trying to raise that cap…

November 18th, 2008 by Brad

In an “economic crisis” (seriously, the family in front of us at the last game could only afford to buy their kids nachos, hot dogs, ice cream, foam fingers and programs, but no Pizza Hut. Tough times…) the NHL is rolling out third jerseys this year in an effort to drum up some revenue and keep that cap high.

So the Dallas Stars came up with this:

(Thanks to the Stars PR and Marketing departments for not providing any promotional images to anyone yet.)

edit: They finally put something up on their web site.

Not a very creative effort, as it’s just the home black design with the colors switched up.

Then again, after the disaster of the “Mooterus”:

(still for sale, by the way!)

You can see why they would be a little skittish about branching out a bit more. I don’t know if winning a Stanley Cup or that abomination caused a bigger stir in the fan base.

Anyway, I guess we’re supposed to care that they’re going to be wearing these a lot in the coming games.
