Crombeen claimed by Blues
November 18th, 2008 by BradOuch. That will help the Blues for years to come if they do it right. Crombeen is a good young player and I hate to see him go. Why are we watching young guys go, and signing guys in their 30’s in a down year?
The addition of Mark Parrish, the departure of James Neal, and the momentary return of Jere Lehtinen made the Stars feel like they needed to try to get Crombeen through waivers? Why? His value had dropped considerably since the beginning of the season, but not that much. He was sure to get picked up, and St Louis wins there.
Jere Lehtinen now has a “new issue”, and of course we don’t know what it is. He is “day-to-day” so I would not expect him to play on Thursday. I can’t wait to hear what the old man tweaked this time. The GAA going down can be attributed in part to Lehtinen. He’s valuable in all 3 zones, and on the PK especially. That he can’t stay healthy is just a sign of the times around here, I suppose.
This certainly opens the door for young James Neal to come back up to the big club soon, one would think.
That Krys Barch signing looks worse and worse all the time, doesn’t it?
With Lundqvist still on the IR for another month+, that leaves you with Ribeiro, Modano, Morrow, Richards, Parrish, Ott, Avery, Barch, Petersen, Eriksson and Brunnstrom. You need Neal then, to make twelve.
Morrow-Ribeiro-Eriksson
Avery-Richards-Neal
Ott-Modano-Parrish
Brunnstrom-Petersen-Barch
Or something like that, with Lehtinen and Lundqvist on the shelf.
If anyone else gets hurt you could see Doug Janik on a wing. He’s done it before in the NHL, though sparingly. Either way, how is this club ever supposed to get some consistency with the constant shuffling of personnel and lines and 4 days between games?
