Decision time
October 7th, 2008 by BradFabian Brunnstrom should not start the season on the NHL roster. He shouldn’t. He can’t. He mustn’t.
But I fear he will.
Money talks, and Mr. Hicks is going to be asking his two-headed GM monster why in the hell they’re giving this guy 2 million to play in Manitoba or some place…It’s a good question, but the answer is quite simple. He isn’t ready. That is to say, not as read as James Neal and Bj Crombeen. You know come to think of it, Tom Hicks might not even know when the NHL season starts, so they might be ok there.
You can’t send Crombeen down, because he has to clear waivers, which of course he wouldn’t. You can send James Neal down because he’s so young and explain it to yourself that way, but why? He’s hungry. It may not translate to 40 points this season, but I don’t know how you can send him away after the last few weeks.
Krys Barch and his lovely one way contract don’t help the situation. On the bright side, we’re talking about having too many forwards that we want to see at the NHL level, a nice problem to have. When Lehtinen gets hurt in a few weeks this will all be moot anyway, right?
